A digital footprint is anything that you leave behind with your name on it on the internet.
Having a positive digital footprint is important because you want a good reputation.
If you search up my name, you'll see numerous images that aren't me on the first page, but there is one link that you might see that belongs to me:

Even though those videos are nothing like my current ones, those were the type of videos I made back in 2008.
One way to improve your digital footprint is to create more than one digital footprint. You also want to have a positive website, or at least if you have one. A third way to improve your digital footprint is to make a positive Twitter and blog.
And if you're thinking right now that it doesn't matter who you're affiliated with online, it actually DOES matter. It matters because a college will typically look at your digital footprint, and want the best possible candidate for their college. They won't pick someone who likes to party, but they WOULD pick someone who doesn't party and cares a lot about their education.
So in conclusion, be cautious of your digital footprint. It might affect your future in a good way or a bad way.
