Digital Footprint

A digital footprint is anything that you leave behind with your name on it on the internet.

Having a positive digital footprint is important because you want a good reputation.

If you search up my name, you'll see numerous images that aren't me on the first page, but there is one link that you might see that belongs to me:

http://www.dailymotion.com/nathanael29

Even though those videos are nothing like my current ones, those were the type of videos I made back in 2008.

One way to improve your digital footprint is to create more than one digital footprint. You also want to have a positive website, or at least if you have one. A third way to improve your digital footprint is to make a positive Twitter and blog.

And if you're thinking right now that it doesn't matter who you're affiliated with online, it actually DOES matter. It matters because a college will typically look at your digital footprint, and want the best possible candidate for their college. They won't pick someone who likes to party, but they WOULD pick someone who doesn't party and cares a lot about their education.

So in conclusion, be cautious of your digital footprint. It might affect your future in a good way or a bad way.

Plagiarization

What is plagiarization?

Plagiarization is when you're committing the act of plagiarism; or to make things simpler, stealing some suggestions or words from someone and treating them like your very own suggestions or words.

It is very important for you not to plagiarize anything because if you do, you could end up in serious trouble. Examples of plagiarism is having another person do your work, purchasing a paper containing words that aren't from you, believing that taking numerous lines and/or words from a different place or more won't make a huge difference as they're factual and isn't worth being admitted, and more.

Here's what happens if you plagiarize at Curtis High School:
1. Your parents may be notified of this, which will lead into a punishment or more at home.
2. You might also end up with a weak grade for plagiarizing.
3. You can be expelled from the class.
4. You could get suspended from school.

To use a proper Modern Language Association (MLA for short) website citation, here's what you need to do. First of all, add the compiler name or the author with a period after it. Next, put in the name of the article in quotes. Put the period after the last letter of the article's name, but before the last quote. Then, add the website the citation came from. But don't forget to italicize it! Add a period next to the website too. After that, put in the organization's or institution's name that's associated with the website, then add a comma, and put in the resource creation's date with a period after it. Now you're nearly finished with the citation! Coming up next, add in the medium of publication with a period after it. Finally, place the date of access at the end. Obviously you need to add in a period afterwards. Now you've used a proper MLA website citation!

As for a sole webpage on a site, put in the compiler name if the author is unknown. Otherwise, use the author's name instead. Finally, if an organization or institution name isn't on the page, use n.p. instead, and if there's no publishing date, use n.d.

N.D. stands for No Date by the way while N.P. means No Publisher.

Below is an example of an MLA website citation.

How to Create a Blog on Blogger

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to create a blog on Blogger.

1. Make a Google account if you haven't done so already. If you have one already, just make sure you're logged in if you aren't.

2. Next to your name, you should see nine dark squares. That represents the apps icon. If you don't know what it looks like or where it is, here's an image of what it looks like and where it is:

Note that once you click it, you may not see the Blogger icon just yet. So if that's the case, click the "More" button.

You should see the Blogger icon right now. If so, click on it.

But if you still don't see it, click the "Even more from Google" button and you should see it then. There, click on the icon for Blogger.

3. Create a new blog on the Blogger homepage.

4. Give the blog a title.

5.  And finally, give the blog it's address. You're also free to change your blog to another template if you'd like, whether you want the template to be temporary or permanent.

And that's how you create a blog on Blogger! So start making posts on it and enjoy it!

By the way, at first, I was trying to create this blog in my class yesterday. Had I been successful, this blog would be a bit older. But as long as the title of this blog had fancy letters and letters longer than 4 to 6 letters, it wouldn't create the blog. The address had nothing to do with this problem by the way (thankfully). Eventually I needed a phone number for verification when I made a short and temporary blog title. So I made it home instead, and I didn't even need any verification. Shortly after this blog's birth, it got it's own link on my The Squishables website.
